SIU NIM TAO
The first form of 3 forms in wing chun is called Siu Nim Tao.
The form introduces the trainee to various concepts and techniques in the wing chun system.
The form includes many of the basic wing chun techniques, the correct positions and applications.

Important points:
  • (When in the stance) Place your weight on the balls of your feet while tightening the muscles on the inside of your thighs.
  • It's a stance from where you should easily and swiftly be able to move. If the feet are too close to each-other you'll lack balance, if the stance is too wide you'll loose moveability. The opening of the stance helps you find the proper width.
  • Move slowly through the hand techniques of the form. We train speed and power after the form. Instead, as you improve and begin to understand the application, focus on tensing the correct muscles needed for applying the technique and relax those that are not needed.
